Fairgrounds

The word fairground to mean bring to mind images of candy floss rides and clowns. I associate the circus with a fairground as in my experience they are a package deal.
colours and lights ferris wheels and carousels.
When I think about it in more depth a fairground is just an illusion which is best showcased at night.
The fair grounds are presented in a way that you cannot ignore it and walk past it is there to lure you in. What with it's many twinkling lights loud happy music and intoxicating aromas of candy floss and pop corn. It is a mirage or oasis in a sum what ordinary area.

What is a fairground when it is not being presented as a fairground?

Any other space? Still a fairground?

Is it still a area what you would willingly let you children roam free? I think not. When a fairground is not presented as such it is a dark eery place that people would avoid.
But that is all in the illusion we are meant to perceive what we are shown, not to get curious and peek behind the curtain.
